SLG to Publish ‘Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer’

pinocchiosamplecoverAbout a year ago, artist Dusty Higgins and I began working on a comic book project called Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer, based on a doodle Dusty had come up with one day.

At last year’s Heroes Con, we debuted the first 10 pages as a mini comic, which earned praise from folks like Todd Dezago. Since then, we’ve been hard at work on the book, fleshing it out into a 120-page graphic novel.

We’re happy to announce that the book has been picked up by publisher Slave Labor Graphics and will be out this fall. More details on the ship date, ordering info, etc. to come.

The book takes off from the end of Carlo Collodi’s fairy tale, as vampires suddenly invade Pinocchio’s village. It’s a blend of humor, fantasy and horror.

This is the first professional comics work for both Dusty and I, and it’s given us both an appreciation of how much effort it takes to make it in the industry. We’re extremely grateful to Dan Vado and everyone at SLG for making this happen.
