New competition at Zuda starts this afternoon. Congrats to the winners of round one: David Gallagher Gallaher, Steve Ellis and Scott Brown.
Yet Another Comics Blog has your comic book advent calendar right here. If only it could also dispense the crucial pieces of chocolate…
There’s a good analysis up of the first year of comics from Minx, the DC imprint for girls, up at J. Caleb Mozzocco’s blog. I agree with him on most the titles, though I did enjoy kimmie66 and wasn’t as wowed by Re-gifters.
One of the comic torrent tracking sites has sent an angry letter to Marvel after the whole Zcult situation, according to Torrent Freak, and Marvel responded by saying “get our stuff off your site.” Reminds me of the time in college when we ran a feature story about a student who had stolen all these road signs, and then the next day the police arrested him. I mentioned over the weekend how the New York Times was fudging the claim that Gail Simone was the first female Wonder Woman writer in the title’s 66-year history. Heidi MacDonald at The Beat gives a good roundup of several people who also took issue with that claim (and, separately, some folks writing about the Minx line).
Among many interesting stories up at the blog of Scott Dunbier, former Wildstorm publisher, is this one detailing some humorous interactions with artists.
Peter David foretells of very major changes in store for Fallen Angel in issues 22-25: “full blown warfare in Bete Noire as a new player arrives with a simple goal–To snatch control of the city from Jude and remake the world in his own image. The status quo will be massively shaken up, long time cast members will die (and no, they won’t come back, ever) and unexpected characters will be returning. You really shouldn’t miss it.”
The 40 worst drawings of Rob Liefeld, by Progressive Boink. If you can make it all the way through without going blind or your head exploding, there’s a surprise atop the list. Oh, and here’s my favorite quote: “I’m not an expert on anthropomorphism and I’m the last person to consult when it comes to sexualizing an animal lady, but is the tail supposed to come out of the middle of the butt cheek like that?” (via Neil Alien)
You can read the entire pitch for Alan Moore’s proposed Twilight of the Superheroes, which was set to give a closing chapter for DC’s heroes, but then never made the light of day. (via Doomkopf)

My mistake (I’ll fix it). Best of luck in the next round.
